It’s the Super Bowl of the Super Bowl of advertising.
The cost of Super Bowl TV ads has doubled since 2000, making this unique opportunity for companies to advertise to over 100 million viewers the most coveted, sought-after spot in the commercial world.
We remember the commercials of years past: Britney Spears with Pepsi, the talking E-Trade babies, Budweiser’s salute to the end of prohibition and Bud Light’s infamous “Wassup.” Super Bowl Sunday just would not be the same without these popular ad campaigns.
What can viewers look forward to for Super Bowl XLVIII? There are countless celebrity appearances, including heartthrobs Scarlett Johansson, David Beckham and Carmen Electra who will star in ads for Soda Stream, H&M and Volkswagen respectively. NASCAR fans will be happy to see GoDaddy regular Danica Patrick beefed up in at least one ad. Full House stars and 90s TV icons, John Stamos, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier will be reuniting in a spot with Dannon Oikos. One of the funnier, more outrageous commercials will include one Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in as a curiously dressed ping-pong player.
There will surely be one or two commercials that everyone is talking about around the water cooler Monday morning, but for now we’ve compiled ten possible hits out of the pre-released ads.
