FOXBORO, Mass. — Only one quarterback was on the New England Patriots’ practice field Wednesday, and it wasn’t Tom Brady.
The future Hall of Famer was absent from the start of practice, as Ryan Mallett took all snaps at quarterback. Also, Brady’s regular Wednesday press conference was pushed to Friday. No reason was given, but Brady has been listed with a right shoulder injury on previous practice reports.
Rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson returned to practice after missing two weeks with a foot injury. Punter Ryan Allen also practiced after injuring his shoulder in the Patriots’ AFC divisional playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts, so it appears he’ll play in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.
Long snapper Danny Aiken was the only Patriots player other than Brady to miss practice. Aiken snapped over Allen’s head Saturday against the Colts, leading to a safety and the punter’s injury.
