New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith‘s offseason didn’t get off to a great start when he was removed from a Virgin America flight before takeoff in Los Angeles on Jan. 17.
Now the airline is apologizing for the incident.

Smith responded to the apology with a statement, saying, “I really appreciate Virgin America took this seriously. … I look forward to flying their airline again soon.”
Smith was kicked off the flight after a flight attendant asked him to remove his headphones and he didn’t respond because he didn’t hear the request, according to reports.
Smith is looking to bounce back from a disappointing rookie campaign this offseason. The 23-year-old quarterback completed 55.8 percent of his passes for 3,046 yards and 12 touchdowns with 21 interceptions. New York finished in a second-place tie in the AFC East with an 8-8 record.
