Vander BlueWALTHAM, Mass. — Vitor Faverani gets another chance to take in the weekend night life in Portland, Maine.

Faverani will be back in the D-League for another brief stint with the Maine Red Claws, the Boston Celtics announced Friday. Vander Blue, whose 10-day contract with the team expired, was also assigned to the minor-league club.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens only had complimentary things to say about Blue following Friday’s practice.

“He was fantastic in practice,” Stevens said. “I give him a lot of credit. Even when he didn’t play, his attitude was great. In a lot of cases, he was a dominant player [Friday] at practice. He’s maximized this for the opportunities he was given in the games.”

Faverani played one game with the Red Claws last Saturday, when he had 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block in a one-night stay with the team. He was back in Boston the next morning for the Celtics’ game against the Brooklyn Nets. Blue signed with the Celtics on a 10-day contract on Jan. 22. He appeared in three games, scoring five total points in 15 minutes of action.

Stevens expects both Faverani and Blue to be back with the Celtics in time for Sunday’s game against the Orlando Magic.
