AFC Champiohship FootballTom Brady was mum about his relationship with Wes Welker before the New England Patriots’ AFC Championship Game loss to the Denver Broncos, but the slot receiver admitted this week that the two kept in touch during the season.

Welker briefly discussed his relationship with Brady during Super Bowl XLVIII Media Day on Tuesday.

“We just text after the game and stuff like that, but he’s a good friend of mine, and we wish nothing but the best for each other,” Welker said.

Welker has stayed away from comparing Brady and Manning, despite numerous requests from reporters.

“I think I’ve covered this question ad nauseam over the course of this year,” Welker said. “They’re obviously great quarterbacks and really did a great job.”

Welker’s Broncos beat the Patriots to move on to Super Bowl XLVIII against the Seattle Seahawks. Welker said the win was bittersweet.

“I think a little bit of both,” Welker said. “Obviously playing there and everything like that, you make a lot of relationships and a lot of friends and you wish the best for them. But, at the same time, you’re excited about the opportunity you have in front of you.”
