The United States dominated the women’s snowboard halfpipe competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi on Wednesday with Kaitlyn Farrington winning gold and Kelly Clark taking bronze.
After a solid first run, Farrington put on a show for the fans with an impressive score of 91.75 on her final run to climb into first place. Clark, the 2002 gold medal winner in this event, struggled in her opening run with a poor score of 48.25, but she rebounded well in her second run by earning a 90.75 to get on the podium.
American Hannah Teter was aiming for her third straight medal in snowboard halfpipe after winning gold at the 2006 Olympics in Turin and silver at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. After a fantastic first run of 90.50, Teter failed to earn a medal with a second run score of 26.75.
Torah Bright of Australia took home the silver medal with a best run of 91.50.
