Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond’s 30 points and Rising Stars Challenge-record 25 rebounds helped push Team Hill to a 142-136 victory over Team Webber on Friday night, but just as Drummond was about to receive the MVP award for his performance, BBVA Compass president Angel Cano dropped and broke the trophy.
The trophy includes a star and a base, but somebody clearly forgot to inform Cano that the award comes apart easily.
“It happened last year, too, so I wasn’t expecting anything less,” Drummond said. “Usually a slip-up happens every year with the trophy. So I wasn’t too shocked about that.”
Drummond laughed off the mishap and eventually hoisted the trophy as his fellow All-Stars applauded him.
