In 2012, Andrew Bynum was an All-Star, averaging 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds a game for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Since then, Bynum has descended into a realm of uncertainty, with injuries and a questionable attitude driving him from team to team. From the Lakers he went to Philadelphia, where a knee injury prevented him from ever playing a game in a Sixers uniform.
Next, Bynum was signed out of free agency by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played 24 games for the Cavs before being suspended indefinitely for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
The specifics behind the conduct that earned him dismissal originally were kept a secret, but now it’s been revealed exactly how bad, and hilarious, Bynum’s conduct was.
During team practices, Bynum took a shot every single time he touched the ball — no matter where he was on the court, according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
Though it was a distraction the Cavaliers obviously didn’t appreciate, everyone else can chuckle at thoughts of Bynum heaving a shot from halfcourt instead of passing to another player.
Bynum now has a home with the Indiana Pacers, and while he hasn’t returned to the court yet, his current teammates should take the time now to dissuade him from shooting from (way) downtown.
