Prospective NFL draftees are often asked weird and sometimes uncomfortable questions during interviews with teams at the NFL Scouting Combine. For former Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles, those questions often centered around his girlfriend.
“’If we come to town, will she be there for dinner,’ and stuff like that,” Bortles, whom most consider a surefire first-round pick, said Wednesday on “The Dan Patrick Show.” “(The teams) knew (about my girlfriend) going into the meeting. I think that was kinda the angle, how I would react to it.”
Bortles told Patrick it was a bit awkward talking about his love life with his potential employers, but the fact that those questions came up isn’t all that surprising.
Bortles’ significant other, Lindsey Duke, is an Internet sensation — so much so that the top search term for the quarterback on both Google and Twitter is “blake bortles girlfriend.” Basically, she’s 2014’s version of Katherine Webb.
And given the amount of attention Webb continues to receive a full year after bursting onto the scene, there’s a good chance Bortles will be hearing these types of questions for quite some time.
