‘Candlepin New Generation’ Pro/Kid Tournament Airing Feb. 12 At 5 p.m.

This week’s Candlepin New Generation features a pro/kid tournament in which youth and professional bowlers are paired together as doubles partners at Lanes and Games in Cambridge, Mass.

This match features Jason Gauthier paired with pro Nick Norcross against Michael McGinty and pro Jeff Surette. The winner of this match will face the team of Kevin Jones and Jonathan Boudreau in the championship next week.

Gauthier, 16, comes from Holyoke, Mass., and has bowled one of the highest qualifying scores in show history earlier in the season with a 421. Norcross, from Woburn, Mass., is one of the rising stars of the candlepin pro tour at just age 21.

McGinty, 16, from Portsmouth, N.H., tied the show’s 11-year single-string record earlier this season with a 167. Surette, from Danvers, Mass., is considered the best bowler in the game with eight Candlepin Pro Series titles.
