Before the NBA All-Star Saturday night competitions got underway, Ernie Johnson, Chris Webber, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal kicked things off — a little too literally.
The five legendary players competed in the “All-Star Challenge,” a series of athletic events set up to determine the best all-around athlete in the group. The quest for bragging rights turned into a series of blunders, though, when Smith attempted to show off his soccer skills. The NBA analyst’s penalty shot attempt was kick-saved by the goalie, only to fly into the stands and nail a young fan in the side of the head.
The youngster didn’t receive a whole lot of sympathy, either, as Webber could not stop laughing at what had just happened.
