Curt Schilling is on the road to recovery.
Schilling, who announced last week that he was diagnosed with cancer, underwent successful surgery, the former pitcher’s daughter, Gabby, confirmed Monday on Twitter.

Schilling’s oldest son, Gehrig, also tweeted a photo of his father in a hospital bed.

Schilling, who has become an ESPN analyst since retiring from baseball after the 2007 season, didn’t reveal what type of cancer he was diagnosed with, but both he and his family appear to be in good spirits. Schilling said Friday via Twitter that he was overwhelmed by all of the well wishes he received upon making his announcement.
Schilling, a six-time All-Star pitcher, finished his 20-year career with a 216-146 record and a 3.46 ERA. The 47-year-old played for the Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox.
