FORT MYERS, Fla. — Boston Red Sox fans who attended the club’s first full-squad workout at JetBlue Park on Thursday got to see Grady Sizemore take some cuts.
Sizemore joined several of his teammates in taking batting practice before a large contingent of Red Sox fans who made their way over to the team’s spring training complex. Sizemore showed some rust during his BP session, but he also scorched a few line drives right up the middle.
Sizemore, who signed with the Red Sox over the offseason, has been sidelined since 2011 because of knee and back injuries, and the outfielder even admitted upon arriving in Fort Myers that he’s unsure of what to expect this season. Sizemore appears healthy and ready to compete for a roster spot, though, and he’s clearly making progress toward returning to game speed.
