Jonny Gomes Almost Unrecognizable After Shaving Beard (Photos)

It’s official. Jonny Gomes’ beard is gone.

Gomes’ beard was shaved Wednesday on the “FOX & Friends” morning show. The fresh shave not only marks a new beginning for the Red Sox outfielder, but it also was done to raise money for a good cause.

Gomes earned a $10,000 donation from Norelco to the Travis Roy Foundation by shaving his beard. Roy, a former Boston University hockey player, was paralyzed after sliding headfirst into the boards on his first shift as a Terrier. He since has graduated from BU and raised million of dollars to fund research and assist survivors of spinal cord injuries. Gomes proudly is joining Roy’s cause.
