Kings Captain Dustin Brown Won’t Have Hearing For Iffy Hit (Video)

Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown’s high stick on Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray won’t result in a trip to the principal’s office.

Brown, who was given two minutes for charging after running over Murray in the Kings’ defensive zone Thursday night, will not be called for a hearing with the NHL, according to Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch.

That means Brown almost certainly will not be suspended for the hit, which is good news for Team USA. Brown is a winger and alternate captain on the 2014 U.S. Olympic team, and, according to CBC Sports’ Elliotte Friedman, NHL suspensions do carry over to Olympic play.

The Kings captain has a history of questionable play but has been suspended just once — a two-game ban for elbowing Minnesota Wild forward Jason Pominville in the head last season.
