Loui ErikssonWILMINGTON, Mass. — Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson probably didn’t enjoy his Friday as much as everybody else. That’s because the Swedish winger spent part of his day in a dentist chair.

Eriksson’s injury-filled season continued Thursday night in St. Louis when he took a high stick to the face in the first period. The forward ended up having some “teeth bashed in” on the play, according to Bruins coach Claude Julien. To add insult to injury, the high stick wasn’t called and the Blues scored shortly thereafter.

Unsurprisingly, Eriksson wasn’t on the ice for Bruins practice on Friday afternoon at Ristuccia Memorial Arena in Wilmington, Mass. That’s because he was spending the day having some dental work done. However, Julien doesn’t expect the forward to miss Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators.

“Loui’s doing OK,” Julien said after practice. “The only reason he missed is he’s obviously getting some dental work done and making sure that he’s all fixed up before tomorrow and before he leaves for the Olympics. He should be in the lineup tomorrow. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t, but I think it’s going to be a long day for him getting his mouth fixed.”

Eriksson had already missed time this season with two separate concussions.
