Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson couldn’t help but crack a smile Monday night.

Karlsson had a wide-open look at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ net after taking a feed from Clarke MacArthur, but Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, while moving from post to post and falling to the ice, snared the puck out of the air in what was truly one of the saves of the year.

The stop kept the game knotted at one goal apiece midway through the third period, a score that held until Penguins winger James Neal netted the game-winner in overtime.

“That’s something that I did not count on,” Karlsson said after the game, via TribLive.com. “It’s a great save. I can’t really do anything else but tip my hat and say ‘good job.’ I thought it was a clear shot and an open net. I just smiled at him. There’s nothing really I can say. Unfortunately, I’m going to be on the highlights for quite a time with that one.”
