New Olympic Events Include Snowboard Slopestyle, Luge Team Relay (Gallery)

SlopestyleAs the 2014 Winter Olympics begin in Sochi, viewers should be on the lookout for 12 new events that will be making their Olympic debuts.

The new events all have roots stemming from the X Games, and are being added in an attempt to bring a new, fresh twist to the Olympics, as well as garner more interest from a younger audience. There are four new men’s events, five new women’s events, and three mixed events.

Ranging from luge team relay to women’s ski jumping, each competition looks to provide an exciting element for athletes and fans to enjoy.

While the snowboard slopestyle course has already drawn some unwelcome attention,  some alterations to the course seem to have already made it more manageable for the competitors.
