Fans aren’t the only ones coming out of the woodwork as baseball returns for spring training.

A raccoon took to the stands to watch the New York Yankees the other day, and now an opossum has joined the fun with the Philadelphia Phillies. The critter was spotted trying to take the field as players reported this week.

The Phillies should look into acquiring a friendly rodent if they want to get back to winning. It was a rally squirrel, after all, that dismantled Philadelphia’s hopes and launched the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series title in 2011 (Charlie Manuel probably really wishes he’d had his gun now that he’s unemployed).

An animal could come in handy should someone try to rouse the curse of Billy Penn again.
