Rajon Rondo, DeMarre CarrollBOSTON — Rajon Rondo insists the real story of why he did not accompany the Boston Celtics to Sacramento for a game last weekend isn’t the one that has been made public. But the point guard isn’t interested in clearing the record.

“I haven’t really read much about it,” Rondo said Wednesday after his team’s 115-104 win over the Atlanta Hawks. “I heard all the comments. Nobody knows the story, so you guys can keep making up every story you possibly can.”

And what is the real story?

“That’s my business,” he said, “not yours.”

To recap, Rondo got in hot water when he chose to stay in Los Angeles after a game against the Lakers on Friday to celebrate his birthday with his family, rather than travel with the team for a game against the Kings on Saturday. Rondo, who has not played both games of a back-to-back since he returned from a torn ACL, was scheduled to rest during that game.

Rondo did not receive permission to stay behind in L.A., however, which raised concerns from president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. Although coach Brad Stevens maintains that he is intent on “moving forward,” Ainge is expected to meet with Rondo sometime in the next week.
