Patriots Falcons FootballThe New England Patriots are finally reaching out to one of their high-profile free agents.

The Patriots and Aqib Talib will meet in Indianapolis this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to the Boston Herald. Talib becomes a free agent March 11, when the 2014 season officially starts. Until then, the Patriots have exclusive negotiation rights with him.

Talib signed a one-year, $5 million deal to stay with the Patriots last offseason. After an impressive 2013 season — despite multiple injuries — Talib is set to earn a bigger, longer contract this offseason.

Talib likely would be the premier free-agent cornerback if he hadn’t hurt his hip in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. Tennessee Titans free-agent cornerback Alterraun Verner likely will take home the biggest paycheck this offseason at the position.
