Tom BradyTom Brady’s performance in the 2000 NFL Scouting Combine was notoriously bad, but that didn’t keep Johnny Manziel from reaching out to the New England Patriots quarterback for advice as the highly rated quarterback prospect heads into the event.

Manziel and Brady texted back and forth about the combine, Manziel’s throwing coach, George Whitfield, told the Boston Herald. Brady told Manziel to “ignore the noise.”

Manziel is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, though experts are having trouble reaching a consensus on the Texas A&M quarterback’s ranking.

Manziel has studied Brady’s film from 2011 to get a read on Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien’s offense. The Texans hold the No. 1 pick, and Manziel wants to impress O’Brien in combine interviews.
