Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has drawn trade interest from around the NBA, and now the Rockets have thrown themselves into the mix. Houston general manager Daryl Morey has “absolute interest” in acquiring Rondo before Thursday’s trade deadline, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

Just because the Rockets have interest doesn’t mean a deal will get done, Stein cautions. Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has set a high price for his point guard after securing multiple first-round draft picks for Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in separate deals. Ainge reportedly is insisting on receiving third-year forward Chandler Parsons from Houston as part of any deal, but the Rockets have refused.

There is no shortage of suitors for Rondo, whether the Celtics decide to trade him now, this summer or never. So the Rockets’ interest should not come as a surprise. Having interest and actually being able to pull off a deal are obviously very different matters, though.
