Ryan Dempster surprised Red Sox Nation on Sunday morning when he announced he would not pitch this season.
That same day, the veteran right-hander joined Tom Caron on the set of Red Sox LIVE from Fort Myers to discuss the difficult decision. Dempster cited his health and his family as the primary reasons why he will sit out the 2014 season, but he wasn’t ready to say this is it for his career.
Dempster has played for five organizations in 16 major league seasons, but he said his one season with the Red Sox made him feel like he’d played in Boston his entire life.
