The Flying Tomato’s snowboarding reign might have come to an end.
American Olympic snowboard favorite Shaun White fell twice during his first finals halfpipe run in Sochi and failed to make the medal podium, finishing behind Swiss rider Iouri Podladtchikov, who won gold. White was looking to win his third straight Olympic gold medal in the event but ended in fourth place.
On White’s first run, he finished 11th out of 12 finalists after he lost momentum on a rough landing. He strung a few tricks together in his second run but was unable to land them cleanly, finishing with a score of 90.25.

Japanese riders Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hiraoka took silver and bronze, respectively, marking the first time Americans have failed to medal in the event, according to CBS Sports.
The finale ended a disappointing week for White, who pulled out of the inaugural slopestyle competition last week to focus on winning gold in the halfpipe.
