Even Olympians aren’t immune to getting a little starstruck around professional athletes.
U.S. speedskater and Illinois native Brian Hansen, a silver medalist at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, is also a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan. So, while he’s in Sochi for the 2014 Winter Games, Hansen’s making it his mission to find as many Blackhawks as possible.
The Hawks sent an NHL-high 10 players to these Olympics, so Hansen has his work cut out for him. Let’s see how he’s doing so far.

That’s a total of seven (plus bonus points for the Frolik sighting) — not bad for a week’s worth of searching. Hansen is still missing three of the team’s biggest stars, though: Canadians Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith and fellow American Patrick Kane.
Unfortunately for the Chicago superfan, his performance on the track hasn’t been nearly as successful. Hansen has failed to medal in any of his three events in Sochi, finishing no higher than seventh. He’ll have one last chance in the team pursuit later this week.
