Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Tuukka Rask and Loui Eriksson all received invites for the 2014 Olympic Games.
Chara will carry his captaincy from Boston to Russia, where he will lead Team Slovakia in his third Olympic appearance. He’ll also be bearing the Slovakian flag in the opening ceremony. Bergeron, who helped Canada take home the gold medal in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic Games, will participate in his second Olympic tournament.
Krejci will play on the Czech Republic team for the second time in his career, while Rask will be making his Olympic debut for Finland. Eriksson will represent Sweden in his second Olympic tournament, as well.
The men behind the bench also will be taking their talents to Sochi, as head coach Claude Julien will serve as an assistant coach for Team Canada, and general manager Peter Chiarelli is serving as an adviser for Canada.
