Adam McQuaid, Patrick SharpWILMINGTON, Mass. — Adam McQuaid was not among the eight defenseman on the ice at Boston Bruins practice Wednesday morning.

The team shut McQuaid down for two to three weeks to rehab a quad strain on March 5, and Bruins head coach Claude Julien offered no update on the blueliner’s condition after Wednesday’s skate.

“No, nothing,” Julien said. “He’s still working out off-ice, but he hasn’t been on the ice yet.”

The Bruins have just 10 games remaining on their regular-season schedule, and unless McQuaid returns to game action soon, there’s a chance he could be left off the team’s playoff roster. The Bruins have relied on rookie Kevan Miller and trade-deadline acquisition Andrej Meszaros to fill the hole on the blue line in his absence.

McQuaid, who has been sidelined since Jan. 19, has played in just 30 games this season, tallying one goal and five assists.

The Bruins host the Chicago Blackhawks in a Stanley Cup rematch Thursday night.
