NBA Logo JerseysJerseys are the hot topic this NBA season, and commissioner Adam Silver recently added fuel to the fire.

Silver told an audience at the IMG World Congress of Sports on Wednesday that logos on NBA jerseys are most likely coming in the next five years, according to ESPN.com.

The current idea circulating among league officials is to allow a 2.5 inch-by-2.5 inch patch on each jersey. Silver told ESPN.com earlier this year that discussion over the patches has slowed recently because of the league’s national television partners, Turner and ESPN, and their concerns over how these patches would affect their own advertisement sales.

“It just creates that much more of an opportunity for our marketing partners to get that much closer to our fans and to our players,” Silver said at the conference. “It gives us an opportunity just to have deeper integration when it comes to those forms of sponsorship.”

Ad-free NBA jerseys soon might be a vintage relic of sports past.
