On Sunday, the legendary Brazilian fullback told the world that he enjoyed Liverpool’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur and singled out one Red for special praise — Liverpool fullback Jon Flanagan, whom he affectionately called “Red Cafu.”

Liverpool beat Tottenham 4-0 at Anfield. Flanagan performed well at left back and assisted Philippe Coutinho’s second-half goal.

Flanagan is becoming increasingly important to Liverpool. The 21-year-old LFC academy graduate has started Liverpool’s last 10 Premier League games, nine of which the Reds have won.

Cafu played for five clubs during his 18-year professional career. He also played 142 games for Brazil’s national team, helping his country win the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and 2002, the Copa America in 1997 and 1999 and the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1997.

The 43-year-old was a right midfielder in the early part of his career before converting into a wingback — a position he played to much acclaim.
