The Boston Bruins were up against it Sunday night having to play their second game in less than 24 hours with some travel mixed in between. That task got even tougher when they lost a player shortly after the puck dropped.
The B’s would eventually beat the Florida Panthers 5-2, but they were forced to do so without their full roster for much of the game. That’s because fourth-line winger Daniel Paille was lost for the game just 3:19 into the first period.
Paille was shaken up after taking a big hit from Florida defenseman Ed Jovanovski. While the hit was big, it didn’t necessarily look like a real damaging check. Apparently it did some damage, though. Paille returned to the bench and quickly exited for the dressing room. The Bruins announced during the second intermission that he would not return.
The good news for Paille and the Bruins, though, is that the injury isn’t expected to be anything serious. That’s at least according to head coach Claude Julien. He told reporters after the game that the injury was “not very serious,” and that he’s hopeful it’s “just a minor bump.”
Paille, who is averaging just under 12 minutes per game this season, already missed time this season with a concussion.
