Pedro Martinez, David OrtizDavid Ortiz and Pedro Martinez still know how to have a good time.

Ortiz and Martinez, teammates with the Boston Red Sox in 2003 and 2004, resumed sharing a clubhouse on occasion last season, when Pedro rejoined the organization as a special assistant to general manager Ben Cherington. The cheery tandem picked up right where they left off, and on Friday the pair shared some laughs at the Red Sox’s spring training complex in Fort Myers, Fla.

Ortiz and Martinez spent time together Friday after Big Papi finished his workout at JetBlue Park. The two even welcomed NESN’s Sarah Davis into their conversation with open arms, telling the on-air talent they love her native city of Toronto and graciously inviting her to next winter’s David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic in the Dominican Republic.

The topic of Ortiz’s annual golf tournament led to additional conversation about life on the links. Martinez said he thinks Tiger Woods is having a tough time dealing with the mental aspect of sports, which many people often take for granted.

Davis was able to catch up with Ortiz for a 1-on-1 interview amid the spring training fun. Be sure to check it out on Friday’s episode of “NESN Sports Today,” airing at midnight ET or immediately following Boston Bruins coverage.
