1395101332_collmenterArizona Diamondbacks reliever Josh Collmenter will mix business with pleasure when he heads to Australia for next week’s two-game season-opening series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Arizona right-hander agreed to take part in a dating game of sorts, sponsored by the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, and will have a blind date, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports writes. Women in Australia have been applying to the contest since Valentine’s Day, and on Friday, the lucky lady selected by J.J. Putz, Patrick Corbin and a few more of Collmenter’s teammates will be revealed.

The 28-year-old has been having fun with the contest, describing himself to the gals of Sydney by saying: “Josh likes long walks on Bondi beach, reading poetry on a bear rug in front of the fireplace and tall, athletic women whose offspring will likely result in a college scholarship.”

If Collmenter doesn’t happen to find the one Down Under, it’ll at least serve as good practice for when he becomes the star on the upcoming season of “The Bachelor,” because that clearly needs to be his next career move.
