The Toronto Maple Leafs were dominated by the San Jose Sharks in a 6-2 loss Tuesday night, and it might have been because the Sharks had a secret sniper embedded in the Maple Leafs’ roster.
In an admirable effort to prevent the Sharks from scoring a goal, Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf laid out a body check that knocked his target off his feet. The only problem was that the player Phaneuf knocked down was his own teammate, James van Riemsdyk, leaving Sharks forward Patrick Marleau free to get a pass off.
