Friday wasn’t the first time Duke has experienced an embarrassingly early exit in the NCAA tournament. In fact, it happened just two years ago.
In 2012, a Blue Devils team that featured Seth Curry, Austin Rivers and the Plumlee brothers entered the Big Dance as a No. 2 seed only to be immediately dismissed by No. 15 seed Lehigh, which had never before won a game in the tournament.
The Mountain Hawks were sure to remind the Cameron Crazies of that result as Mercer celebrated its Duke takedown.
