The Boston Red Sox picked Grady Sizemore over Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Red Sox announced before Friday’s spring training game against the Minnesota Twins that Bradley has been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. The move corresponds with manager John Farrell’s announcement that Sizemore will be Boston’s Opening Day center fielder.

Bradley, who hit .189 (18-for-95) in 37 regular-season games at the major league level last season, hit .158 (9-for-57) with a .476 OPS and 17 strikeouts in 19 Grapefruit League games this spring. Sizemore, meanwhile, entered Friday with a .333 average (13-for-39) and .842 OPS in 12 Grapefruit League games.

The Red Sox have 32 players in major league camp following Bradley’s demotion, including 27 players from the 40-man roster and five non-roster invitees.
