Jarrod SaltalamacchiaJarrod Saltalamacchia might be disappointed about the Boston Red Sox’s contract offer in free agency, but the Miami Marlins catcher clearly harbors no ill will toward his former club.

Saltalamacchia poked fun at the Red Sox and former teammate Ian Kinsler, whom he played with in Texas, before Thursday’s Red Sox-Marlins spring training game in Jupiter, Fla.

“I hope they go 0-162,” Saltalamacchia joked to reporters about the Red Sox. “Now they’re all sleazeballs.”

Saltalamacchia, of course, was kidding. The joke was in reference to Kinsler’s recent comments about Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels, who traded Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers over the offseason. (Kinsler since has said his comments were taken out of context.)

Saltalamacchia, who signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Marlins over the offseason, smiled while playfully jabbing his former club. Salty said he has stayed in touch with several of his former Red Sox teammates.
