Boston Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester got some good news Tuesday.

Zein Youssef, a 6-year-old boy with whom Lester bonded during the Red Sox’s World Series run last season, is cancer-free. Youssef first met Lester, also a cancer survivor, last August when the Red Sox were in Los Angeles to play the Dodgers. Youssef signed Lester’s glove, and the left-hander used it for the rest of the season — through the World Series win.

Lester said the young boy was on his mind when he was pitching in the World Series.

Lester tweeted a picture of Youssef that the young boy’s parents put on Facebook when they announced he is cancer-free.
