Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an apparent left arm injury after taking a huge hit from Brooks Orpik.
Orpik drilled the Blackhawks forward into the boards during the second period, with Toews’ shoulder and head appearing to take the brunt of the contact. Toews favored his left arm as he got up and skated straight toward the bench. He headed to the dressing room and did not return.
Chicago is already without top winger Patrick Kane, who missed his sixth game with a left knee injury, and will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
