The Kansas City Royals’ mascot welcomed the New York Mets’ mascot to Twitter on Monday in bizarre fashion — by hitting on his wife.

Mr. Met has been the Mets’ mascot since 1962, while his other half, Mrs. Met, was reintroduced in 2013 after a brief stint with the team in 1975. It seems her biggest fan, though, might be Sluggerrr, the Royals’ mascot.

Oh, the drama. Much to Sluggerrr’s chagrin, Mr. Met was quick to reassure fans that a mascot breakup was not in their future.

Poor Sluggerrr. He’s looking for love in all the wrong places. Maybe Cincinnati’s Rosie Red is single.
