As Major League Baseball kicks off its regular season, minor league teams step up to the plate with wacky uniforms and amusing promotions.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs have attracted attention with their bacon-inspired marketing campaign, which featured the sale of scratch-and-sniff T-shirts that smell like fresh bacon. Other teams enjoy a blast from the past, donning jerseys based on Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters.
Minor league clubs also have absurd team names to complement their bizarre uniforms. From the El Paso Chihuahuas, to the Akron Rubber Ducks, to the Montgomery Biscuits, they seem to have one common goal: entertain the fans.
