It seems that Manchester United’s retired stars aren’t immune from the troubles the club is having this season.

Former Manchester United hero Eric Cantona, 47, was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly assaulting a man during an altercation in North London.

“Police were called to Regents Park Road, NW1, at 12.55pm on Wednesday March 12, following reports of an assault,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, according to the Guardian. “Officers from Camden Borough attended and a man in his mid-40s was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

“He was taken into custody and subsequently cautioned for common assault.

“The victim, a man, did not require medical assistance at the scene.”

It’s not yet known if the victim intends to press charges.

Cantona played 143 games for Manchester United between 1992 and 1997, helping the Red Devils win four Premier League title and two FA Cups. Cantona claimed England’s major Player of the Year awards in 1993-94 (as voted by his fellow players) and 1995-96 (voted by journalists).

Cantona retired in 1997 at age 30. The French forward briefly played beach soccer for his country before becoming a professional actor and presidential hopeful.

A spokeswoman for Cantona’s agent refused to comment on Cantona’s arrest.

“I don’t know. There is nothing to say,” the spokeswoman said.

If Cantona and his camp change their minds, let us be the first to say that we can’t wait for the press conference.
