Manuel Pellegrini Professes ‘Love’ For Wrong Manchester Team (Video)

Manuel Pellegrini was so happy about Manchester City’s victory in the Capital One Cup final Sunday that he momentarily forgot what team he manages.

Pellegrini, manager of Manchester City, made a high-profile gaffe during his postgame interview, telling a global audience how much he enjoys managing crosstown rival Manchester United.

“I love pressure, so to manage a big team as Manchester United and to have options in all the competitions is very good, is very beautiful for all of us,” Pellegrini told the BBC.

It was obviously a mistake on Pellegrini’s part, and credit goes to the interviewer for not highlighting it in the heat of the moment.

Besides, Pellegrini is Chilean, Spanish is his native tongue, and he had just won his first major trophy as a European soccer manager a few minutes earlier.

While we all have and do make mistakes, Pellegrini’s was funny enough to revisit.

See Pellegrini’s gaffe in the video below (around the 1:10 mark).
