Michael BennettSuper Bowl champion defensive end Michael Bennett will not hit the open market.

The Seahawks signed Bennett before the start of free agency, which is 4 p.m. Tuesday. Bennett signed a four-year, $28.5 million contract with $16 million guaranteed, according to ESPN.com. He had higher offers from two other teams but took less money to re-sign with the Seahawks.

Bennett said after the Super Bowl that there is no such thing as a hometown discount, saying, “This is not Costco. This is not Walmart — this is real life.”

Bennett had 8.5 sacks for the Seahawks in 2013. His decision to sign a one-year deal worth $4.8 million last offseason paid off.
