Mario Balotelli, Marek Hamsik and Pepe ReinaPepe Reina has been such a hit at Napoli, the Italian club wants to keep beyond the end of the season.

On Sunday, Reina helped Napoli defeat Juventus 2-0 in a contest between the first- and third-placed teams in Serie A (Italy’s first division).

Following the game, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis went on Twitter and said he wants Reina to stay.

“I talked to Reina,” De Laurentiis said, according to the Mail. “If they finish in second place I’ll reward them all, but I also want him to stay.

Reina joined Napoli on a season-long loan from Liverpool last summer. The Spanish goalkeeper has played 36 games (in all competitions), helping the club reach the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) final and close in on qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Reina’s future beyond the end of the season is uncertain. Simon Mignolet has established himself as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper, and it’s unlikely that Reina would displace the Belgian.

Napoli could make a transfer offer for Reina. The Mail reports he would be available for around £4.5 million ($7.5 million).
