Plenty of players are still on the market, and while prices could go up on some coveted positions, other players might be available for bargain rates now that the first rush is over.

Free agent nose tackle Earl Mitchell most likely will wind up with the Dolphins, but the Chargers also are “in the mix,” Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
2:02 p.m.: Denver Broncos free agent linebacker Wesley Woodyard is reportedly scheduled to visit the Patriots.
It would be interesting to see how he’d fit in the Patriots’ defense, whether they run a 4-3 or a 3-4. It could mean less snaps for linebacker Dont’a Hightower in the passing game.
1:55 p.m.:Â Darrelle Revis isn’t interested in taking a pay cut.
Revis refused to restructure his contract with the Buccaneers, and he won’t lower his salary to facilitate a trade, a league source told Pro Football Talk.
The Browns are expected to sign safety Donte Whitner once the free agent market opens at 4 p.m., a source told Cleveland.com. That means they’ll likely lose T.J. Ward.
1:41 p.m.:Â Baltimore Ravens free agent defensive end — and Chandler Jones’ brother — Arthur Jones is “likely to sign” with the Baltimore Ravens, NFL Media’s Albert Breer reports.
1:33 p.m.:Â The Oakland Raiders, who have $60 million in cap space, have emerged as “strong players” in the Darrelle Revis sweepstakes, league sources told Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.
If any team can pay Revis’ $16 million salary, it’s the Raiders.
The Browns are the “team to beat” for linebacker Karlos Dansby, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
1:10 p.m.:Â Arizona Cardinals defensive end Frostee Rucker is expected to re-sign today, according to Kent Somers of AZ Central.
The Falcons have announced they signed defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux to a three-year contract extension.
12:51 p.m.:Â DeMarcus Ware has requested that the Cowboys make a decision on his future before free agency begins at 4 p.m., ESPN.com reports.
Ware is due $12.75 million in 2014. The Cowboys, who would save $7.4 million in cap room by cutting him, have discussed reducing his salary in 2014. Ware had six sacks last season.
The Lions have signed running back Joique Bell to a two-year, $7 million extension with $4.3 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN’s Adam Caplan.
12:35 p.m.:Â Aqib Talib has “no standing offers” from NFL teams during the open tampering period, according to Mike Giardi of CSNNE.com. That runs counter to a report from NBC Sports on Monday that said the Patriots were “very close” to reaching a deal with Talib.
In other free agency news, the Texans released tight end Owen Daniels, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Saints will cut running back Darren Sproles on Tuesday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports.
Both players could receive significant interest from the New England Patriots if they come at an affordable price.
11:50 a.m.: The Browns are all up in the Patriots’ business today.
Cleveland has found its way into another rumor in which the Patriots are involved, this time for the services of Bucs cornerback Darrelle Revis. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the Browns could be one of the few teams willing to trade for Revis, which Tampa Bay obviously would prefer to cutting the expensive defender. The Browns have draft picks and cap space aplenty.
If the Patriots were to look into getting Revis, it would have to be after the Buccaneers released him, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tampa is ready to do if it failed to find a trade partner. The Patriots likely would not be interested in picking up Revis’ mammoth contract.
The Browns also are said to be looking at Patriots free agent-to-be wide receiver Julian Edelman. — JS
11:13 a.m.: A major defensive end is off the market, according to reports.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have scooped up former Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson to the tune of five years and $43.75 million, with $24 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson. They’ll make it official when free agency officially begins at 4 p.m. — JS
11:05 a.m.: The Patriots are working to retain wide receiver Julian Edelman, a huge piece of their offense last season. But they’re trying to do it in a way that leaves them an escape hatch to look elsewhere.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots have offered Edelman a three-year deal, but they want an answer by the beginning of free agency (today at 4 p.m.). That would give them time to jump in early on other free agent wide receivers.
NFL Network’s Albert Breer and NFL.com’s Marc Sessler say the Cleveland Browns are interested in Edelman, among others, which plays against the idea that New England could get a bargain on Edelman since he’s far more valuable to them in their system. — JS
10:35 a.m.: Adam Vinatieri’s golden leg is going to keep kicking.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the 41-year-old has agreed to a deal with the Indianapolis Colts for another two years.
Vinatieri has played 18 seasons in the NFL and was 35-for-40 on field goals and 34-for-34 on extra-point attempts in 2013, the latest strong season in a stellar career. — JS
10:25 a.m.: Any team would be silly not to take a look at adding Darrelle Revis. And the New England Patriots are rarely silly.
Mike Giardi of CSNNE.com reports that the Patriots have already had “internal discussions” about Revis — although, of course, what those discussions included was not divulged. –JS
8:45 a.m.: It’s not a signing, but here’s some speculation that’s sure to get Patriots fans interested.
Adam Schefter of ESPN has kicked off the day by surmising that Darrelle Revis, who is expected to be cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will draw the most interest from the Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.
That sounds like Christmas for New England fans, who not only would get a chance to stick it to the New York Jets but also could be close to an incredible 1-2 tandem at cornerback if the Aqib Talib talks work out. –JS

8 a.m. ET:Â The wildest day of the NFL offseason has finally arrived.
The 2014 NFL season officially starts at 4 p.m., when free agents are open to sign with any team. The Patriots appear to be trying to get deals done with their top two free agents, Aqib Talib and Julian Edelman, before 4 p.m.
Outside of Talib and Edelman, the Patriots aren’t expected to be overly active on the first day of free agency, when player costs are at their highest. Players like defensive end Michael Johnson, cornerback Vontae Davis and safety Jairus Byrd are expected to be among the first players to come off the open market.
