Aaron Dobson might not be on the field when the New England Patriots gather for organized team activities and mandatory minicamp.
The Patriots’ second-year wide receiver had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot on Monday, a source confirmed MassLive.com’s report. Dobson’s timetable for recovery is two to three months.
Dobson played through the injury after initially hurting his foot in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos. He reinjured it in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills and returned to the field in the AFC Championship Game.
The Patriots thought Dobson’s foot could heal on its own, which is why they waited a month and a half for the surgery.
The Patriots’ offseason program starts April 21. Mandatory minicamp will begin in early June.
