The Patriots have reached an agreement on a three-year deal with veteran free-agent wideout Brandon LaFell on Saturday, a source told ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter. The former Carolina Panthers receiver caught 49 passes for 627 yards with five touchdowns in 2013.

The 6-foot-2, 210 pound four-year pro had seven catches for 59 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots in Week 11 of the 2013 season. LaFell spent 63 percent of his snaps in the slot last season.

LaFell adds some size and experience to the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart. The Patriots also re-signed receiver Julian Edelman on Saturday.

LaFell’s contract is expected to be three years, $11 million, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
