Jared AllenThe Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are set to scoop up the best available free agent.

All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen has agreed to sign with the Seahawks, a league source told ESPN.com’s Ed Werder on Thursday. Allen received interest from the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos. He’s on his second visit with the Seahawks.

Allen seemed to be a fit for the New England Patriots in a rotational defensive end role, but the team spent most of its available salary-cap room on free-agent cornerback Darrelle Revis and wide receiver Julian Edelman.

Allen, who’ll be 32 next season, will join pass rushers Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril with the Seahawks. He’ll replace defensive end Chris Clemons, who was released by the Seahawks last week and quickly signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Allen had 11.5 sacks last season for the Minnesota Vikings. He’s a five-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time first-team All-Pro.
