If the New England Patriots want to retain Julian Edelman, they might need to act fast.
Edelman has a visit scheduled with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 49ers are the first team Edelman has visited since free agency started on Tuesday.
Edelman reportedly received a three-year contract offer from the Patriots before free agency began. Edelman turned down the deal and chose to hit the open market.
Edelman has been tied to the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. The Browns signed slot receiver Andrew Hawkins to a restricted free agent offer sheet. The Ravens are reportedly hosting wide receiver Steve Smith on a visit on Friday.
